Technology is not replacing books Books require no batteries or power cords. They do not have to be booted and do not generate heat. They make no noise yet they convey sounds. They are easily portable and yet they contain planets and passions. Using books one can read the thoughts of people from the past and the future, smell odors and touch textures that are far away, long ago, or merely fantastic. Through books I can attend concerts without disturbing anyone around me. And books can be returned to or shared broadly over centuries.
