Reading to me is like a long-lost friend whom, to my delight, I re-discover every now and again. To rest upon a pile of pillows, with the light just so soft; and to ride the pages like a magic carpet to some far away tropical island, or a 19th century wilderness trail, or a murder scene on some street in San Francisco. The power of the pen and page is not lost on me. I just wish I had MORE F**KING time in which to do it. LOL!Really though, all that aside I love a little bit of everything when it comes to reading. My first love is fiction of course. If a book can't take me to a far off land, I'm probably inclined to pass. However, I do appreciate a juicy bit of history, with a side of conquer and pillage. But then again, even history, albeit non-fiction, still has that power to take one away.
I've always aspired to be a writer too. Every writing & literature teacher from grade school to grad school has encouraged me do pursue it. I'm just too damn lazy, and it's difficult to get inspired. Although, I can hear that train in the distance, rolling ever so closer; I feel that perhaps one day soon I may finally answer my calling.
