Where I am from: New Jersey (a state I will defend fiercely when challenged. Which I often am.)

Where I have chosen to be: Illinois. Came for work, fell in love with this Land of Cornfields.

What I cannot live without:

-My job. I mean, beyond having an income. Which is useful, I will admit. I would be lost not just without A job, but without THIS job--I get to teach and write and study, and think about the past all darned day, every darned day--and I really cannot think of anything better.

-Travel. I love my home, but if I don't leave it at regular intervals--do not find myself on a plane or a train, going somewhere with the promise of seeing somewhere new-I get itchy.

My liberal pinko Commie politics. Started voting Democratic when I turned 18, and will stop... never. Discovered feminism in college, and found my home there. Get reliably cranky at Republican politicians' many and varied unpleasantness. Care passionately about abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, all of the things which make my uncle shake his head disapprovingly at me at our family reunion (bless his heart.)

What I hope for:

-More books (My house already has a prodigious number, but it could stand to have more, surely...?)

-More clothes (I study/am obsessed with fashion, and haunt my town's thrift stores, so More Items for the Closet is always an aspiration.)

-More travel, to more new places (have lived in the Midwest for years, but so many corners of it are as of yet unexplored by me. Are there actually giant balls of twine, somewhere, as legend promises? And if so--where are they???)

-Someone to go on these adventures with. Someone who might be interested in seeing the giant ball of twine. Someone with whom I could go Book Hunting. Someone I have not met, whom I could show the places I already love, learn about the places he loved, and find new places to love, together.
